Hey thanks so much for checking out Paint The Town Red. Whether you found out about us from one of our street teams, a school presentation, a colleague at work or from one of our cheeky little stickers, we’re thrilled that you have connected with us.
This is why:
Slavery & human trafficking still exist today.
Every 30 seconds someone becomes a slave.
There are more than 45 million slaves in the world.
136,000 people are currently trapped in slavery in the UK.
The youngest victim of slavery rescued in Wales is 18 months old.
If you are worried that you, or someone else, may be a victim of modern slavery please reach out for help and call the modern slavery hotline 08000 121 700 or in an emergency 999. You can also find further information that may be helpful here.
Join the Resistance
Raising awareness about this modern day evil is one of the best ways that we can expose it and bring about change. Therefore please feel free to join the campaign, use our hashtag #paintthetownred, spread the word and shine the light of freedom into your world.
Also, be vigilant about shopping ethically and don’t be scared to ask shops about their slavery footprint. You might want to check out ethicalconsumer.org and knowtheorigin.com. Furthermore if you are a coffee drinker and haven’t discovered Cardiff-based Manumit Coffee Roasters, you might just want to do that too!
We have also written a book for children aged 7 to 11 which they can read with an adult to explore more in a child appropriate way. Copies are available now for £7.99 by emailing email@example.com and welsh and english language versions will be properly launched in Spring 2020.
