Bike Wales in a day

Two friends of ours, Joel and Simon, are about to embark on a crazy fund-raising adventure for Red Community. They are hoping to cycle the entire length of Wales (160 miles) in a single day! Here’s an excerpt from their JustGiving page:

Initially we only wanted to try and get home to Llandudno from Swansea university without paying the train fare. We realised this would be a challenge but we thought why not. Around the same time we met Dai Hanky who is a leading figure in Red Community, based in Cardiff, and we spoke about the work that the charity does.

Red Community was founded in 2013 from a prayer meeting held by a group of Christians for those affected by human trafficking and prostitution. The organisation works to raise awareness of modern day slavery and works to help help those who have been trafficked as well as fight human trafficking and slavery. Their work has helped many people throughout South Wales by raising awareness and by connecting survivors of slavery with people in the community to befriend one another. We were shocked to discover the extent at which this still occurs in the world and even within the UK and quickly came to the conclusion that we would like to fully support the work that Red community do.

Our aim is to bike from Swansea to Llandudno, a distance of 160 miles, in a day in the hope that this will raise awareness of the work Red Community are doing to try and combat human trafficking and help those who have been exploited and enslaved. All the proceeds will go towards helping Red Community with the work that they are already doing and help them reach other areas of the country where people are still being exploited.

They have set themselves a very modest target (just £200). Let’s help them smash that target to bits! Here’s the link again:
