For many years the Caru Project has been working with sex workers who work on and off the streets of Cardiff.

Caru (meaning Love in Welsh) provides weekly outreach to street sex workers and women that work in Parlours.

The vision of Caru is to demonstrate God's love - 'that all may know and experience the love of God'.

Caru is not an overtly evangelistic project but looks to show God's love through acts of kindness. Prayer is available on request, should the women choose. Some have, which has brought God's love and comfort to them.

Parlours are visited with cakes and, if invited in, a chat with the women. Signposting is available to other agencies and avenues of support, should the women need it.

Street outreach visits areas where the women work. On sighting a woman, a bag is offered to contain health care, food and toiletries. Tote bags containing a new set of clothes, if required. Personal alarms and, at times, mobile phones. If the woman has time, an offer of hot chocolate or coffee is available. Given with love, a swirl of cream, marshmallows and a dusting of chocolate. This is always a winner to bring a smile, particularly on a cold night. The women appreciate our connections. They are often very hungry and appreciate the food. There are many stories where we have arrived just at the right time to help and meet needs. Our presence has helped women in times of great difficulty, giving them avenues to support services and an alternative lifestyle if that's what they desire.

Please pray for Caru's outreach and for good connections with the women, so help can be gained if needed.
